Thanks to all of the great volunteers that came out and made it happen Saturday at Chewacla State Park!! There were 30+ people that logged 150+ trail work hours for CAMP. I think we had half of the NAVY with us today too! Thanks Jamieson for bringing your team out! We look forward to seeing them riding the trails.
The bridge and all of the trail work was completed on the Creek View to CCC connector (it’s ready to ride!). In addition to the 10-15 foot bridge that spans a creekbed, the connector trail itself is pretty awesome, with several different options to choose from.
The CCC to Falls View connector was brought out as far as the paved road (it’s ready to ride too!). Eventually the CCC to Falls View Connector will cross the road toward the lake & join Falls View on the old road that comes from the Lake Pavilion between the cabins and the lake. We will be building a boardwalk to connect Falls View to this old road too. Once that’s done, CCC will actually link to Falls view. As you can tell, there’s a lot of work being done, but there’s still a LOT left to do!
There is a new intermediate trail going in between the Lake Pavilion Parking Lot and the Ranger Station. This new loop was completely blown clear (lot’s of work to do there now to get it ready to ride… shaping, grubbing, & hole filling). It’s going to be a great short trail with lots of flow and fun!
Please be patient because the trails will be a little confusing until we get the signs up for these new areas now that there are more options. The Signage and Map Team will be meeting soon to get this very important project moving forward, so that the entire trail system is marked and mapped.
Stay tuned to the CAMP website for more news. We hope to be updating the site more frequently, as well as adding some more information about the group’s plans for the coming year, and some educational sections about mountain biking and trail building.
