We had a great turnout for our All Members Meeting Sunday, September 28! This meeting will kick off more regular quarterly meetings for all members. In case you missed it, here are some basics that were discussed:
1. TRAILS- Base CAMP trail is pretty much completed thanks to our successful workdays and volunteers. We can’t wait to use it as a classroom for new riders. The approval of our RTP grant has kicked off construction on the newest portion of trail Monday, September 29. Preston York, owner of Preston’s Landscaping and Trail Construction, has come down for the week to cut new trail in the upper portion of the park. A section will be completed by Night Nationals Oct. 25, and the goal is to have the entire trail finished before SORBA Summit in March. See here for more info on the RTP grant and new trails. Contact Hank Albritton (email@example.com) if you would like to volunteer with the Trails team.
2. BASE CAMP- Take a Kid Mountain Biking is October 5 from 1pm-4pm. Kids of all ages can come participate in skills clinics, group rides, games and a cookout to end the day! Contact Eric Smith (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you would like to be involved with Base CAMP.
3. MEMBERSHIP- Membership is kicking off a campaign to reach out to expired members to see if they are interested in renewing their membership. In addition, Alan is developing a prize system for members who recruit new members as well as offering CAMP gifts to new members. Contact Alan Walker (email@example.com) if you would like to be involved with the Membership committee.
4. EVENTS- The events team is always looking for members to help with planning, implementing and securing sponsorship for events. Some big events that will require volunteers are Night Nationals Oct. 25 and G.O.A.L. Fest Memorial Day weekend 2015. Also, CAMP is hosting this year’s SORBA Summit March 20-22, 2015. More than 30 SORBA chapters will come to Auburn to ride our trails and hear about the future of mountain biking in the South. Contact Hiro Fukai (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you would like to be involved with upcoming events.
