Electric assist bikes, or better known as e-bikes are becoming more and more popular and we at CAMP feel we need to clarify our position on e-bikes on the off-road trails we build and maintain. The official stance is similar to the current thoughts from IMBA. We feel that e-bikes are suitable for trails that currently allow motorized vehicles. We feel that such devices will have many negative impacts on the trails we all have volunteered many hours to build and maintain. E-bikes are best suited for commuting, road riding, and gravel roads where motorized vehicles are allowed.
All of the trails that CAMP maintains in Chewacla, Tuskegee National Forest, and Lake Wilmore do not currently allow motorized traffic. If you have any questions or concerns about this policy please feel free to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
